We kick off 2024 with a publication packed with colorful features. In the January-February edition of Rapaport Magazine, we look at the spiking demand for fine colored stones and cultured pearls, and the implications for supply and prices. Retailers share the specific challenges they are facing with colored gemstones as well as what’s selling well. In the cover story, we also analyze the latest issues related to ethics and sustainability.

An industry insider who knows all about displaying and selling colored gemstones in an inviting setting is Anup Jogani, the owner of an atelier-inspired gallery in Silver Lake, California. He tells us about finding hidden treasures.

We could not have an issue on colored gemstones without paying a visit to Bangkok, where a steady gem supply and a history of expertise continue to attract cutters and dealers.

The magazine also includes an article about Anglo-Chinese mining firm Fuli Gemstones and Thailand-based stone supplier Navneet Gems & Minerals unveiling their lapidary innovations.

Elsewhere, we showcase jewels set with stones in the Pantone Color of the Year, Peach Fuzz. Expect padparadscha sapphires, moonstones, garnets, tourmalines, spinels, and diamonds.

In this issue we also put spinels in the limelight. This color-versatile stone comes in myriad hues from deep reds and blues to soft greys, lilacs, oranges, pinks and deepest blacks. Needless to say, it’s a hit with designers.

There’s more color in the watch sector, with pieces featuring lacquered dials increasingly attracting collectors on the secondary market. Other features explore 2024’s most alluring jewelry trends and how retailers should be tapping into the lucrative market of inclusive holidays, beyond the usual US stalwarts. Another analysis focuses on what the use of artificial intelligence means for design creativity, data tracking and ethical practices.

Finally, in addition to the regular Rapaport insights and diamond-market data, including the Rapaport Price List, the January-February magazine comes with the highly anticipated Diamond Price Statistics Annual Report — exclusively for subscribers to the print issue and available to purchase separately in our Store.
