Sanctions on Russia were the focus of the latest episode of the Rapaport Diamond Podcast as diamond consultant Robert Wake-Walker shared his knowledge of the industry.
Wake-Walker spoke with Rapaport’s Joshua Freedman about the uncertainty around Group of Seven (G7) measures against Russian diamonds, analyzing what we know about the sanctions and what needs to be clarified ahead of tighter measures going into effect over the course of this year.
A fluent Russian speaker, Wake-Walker was raised in Moscow, where has father, Richard Wake-Walker, set up De Beers’ first office in the Russian capital shortly after the fall of the Soviet Union. A lawyer by profession, Robert Wake-Walker returned to the diamond industry in 2022 at WWW International Diamond Consultants in London.
