GEMTalks Zooms In On Diamond Origin

The second episode of Rapaport’s GEMTalks series will feature a timely discussion on diamond origin with special guest Dr. James Shigley of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

Dr. Shigley, distinguished research fellow at the GIA in Carlsbad, California, will speak with Rapaport’s Joshua Freedman about the challenges of determining diamond origin. Sponsored by the GIA, the LinkedIn Live session comes as new sanctions on Russian diamonds go into effect across the Group of Seven (G7) countries, raising the importance of origin verification.

Dr. Shigley, one of the most renowned gemologists, will also outline the GIA’s work on origin determination for colored stones and address the topic of lab-grown diamonds.
