Two emerald and diamond jewels topped a recent Sotheby’s auction, far surpassing their presale estimates.

A Tiffany & Co. oval cabochon Colombian emerald and diamond ring sold for $240,000, doubling its $120,000 high estimate, according to Sotheby’s. A necklace by designer Giovane, with 12 emerald-cut Colombian emeralds and marquise-shaped and round diamonds, also brought in $240,000, above its $150,000 upper price. The online Fine Jewels auction took place in New York from May 30 to June 10, achieving $8.9 million, with several items beating their presale estimates.

Meanwhile, an emerald-cut, 7.17-carat, G-color, VVS2-clarity diamond ring sold for $216,000, exceeding its $200,000 high price tag.

Another notable lot was a pear brilliant-cut, 7.43-carat, F-color, SI1-clarity diamond ring that went for $168,000, topping its $100,000 high estimate.

A pair of earrings, each featuring modified octagonal step-cut, 3-carat, Colombian emeralds surrounded by diamonds, garnered $156,000, more than double its $60,000 upper price tag.  Also popular were three diamond necklaces, one containing stones of a black hue. The set realized $156,000, beating its top estimate of $60,000.
