A 14.03-carat emerald was the top seller at the most recent jewelry auction at Christie’s in Paris, more than doubling its high estimate.
The unmounted octagonal step-cut Colombian emerald sold for EUR 756,000 ($809,201) against a EUR 350,000 ($374,630) upper price, according to the auction house. In total, the Paris Joallerie sale, which took place from June 12 to 21, garnered EUR 10.5 million ($11.2 million).
Also performing well was a pair of Boucheron earrings with two cushion brilliant-cut Kashmir sapphires weighing 3.91 and 3.46 carats, set between diamonds. The piece went for EUR 693,000 ($741,741), nearly 12 times its EUR 60,000 ($64,222) high estimate. Meanwhile, a Van Cleef & Arpels ring bearing a rectangular step-cut, 10.45-carat, E-color, VS1-clarity diamond realized EUR 378,000 ($404,586), within its estimated range.
A Cartier necklace containing emeralds, onyx, black enamel and diamonds surpassed its EUR 200,000 ($214,067) top price, achieving EUR 327,600 ($350,641). Another notable item was a transformable necklace by Tabbah that featured an 8.86-carat diamond hanging from a chain set with 48 to 52 carats of diamonds. That piece achieved EUR 327,600, well over its EUR 250,000 ($267,551) high estimate.
