Color Grabs Spotlight at Sotheby’s Auction

Colored diamonds and gemstones were the big sellers at the most recent jewelry sale at Sotheby’s, which fetched a total of HKD 102.7 million ($13.1 million).

The top item at the February 3 Important Jewels sale in Hong Kong was a bracelet with 13 graduated step-cut Colombian emeralds weighing a total of 19.41 carats. The piece, which also contained 13 emerald-cut, D- to F-color, VVS1- to VS2-clarity diamonds weighing a combined 20.12 carats, brought in HKD 6.9 million ($875,335), within its estimate.
