A natural pearl and diamond pendant was the top seller at the Fine Jewels & Watches sale Sotheby’s held in Milan, fetching EUR 288,000 ($311,479).
The pendant, which is embellished with a natural-pearl drop and surmounted by tapered baguette-, baguette- and single-cut diamonds, brought in more than nine times its EUR 30,000 ($32,446) high estimate.
Several items far exceeded presale estimates, with multiple pieces selling for well over double their high estimates, according to the company’s website. The October 24 sale, which achieved a total of EUR 5.3 million ($5.8 million), also included pieces from renowned jewelers such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Bulgari.
