Jewelers of America (JA) will bestow its GEM Award for Lifetime Achievement to Lux Bond & Green jewelry store CEO John Green.

The GEM Awards honor the outstanding achievements of individuals or companies whose work raises the visibility and status of fine jewelry and watches. Green was selected for his diligent devotion to the jewelry industry, his family-owned jewelry stores, and his dedicated service throughout his career, JA said Monday.

Green is the fourth generation of his family to run the jewelry chain, which was established in 1898 and comprises five locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts, as well as a new concept store called Store 52. He has also held several leadership positions across the industry, including with JA, Jewelers Mutual, GEM Awards and the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

“John has been a critical part of the success of GEM Awards, having served as chair for GEM Awards and as board chair for JA,” said JA CEO David Bonaparte. “We are grateful for all that John does for our industry and look forward to acknowledging his service with this important award.”

JA will hand out the award at its 23rd annua GEM Awards on March 14, in New York City. It will announce nominees in other categories in the coming weeks, it added.
