GEMTalks: How Natural and Lab-Grown Diamonds Differ

The distinguishing features of mined and synthetic diamonds will be in the spotlight at Rapaport’s next GEMTalks session. 

Dr. Ulrika D’Haenens-Johansson, senior manager of diamond research at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), will join Rapaport’s Joshua Freedman to discuss physical differences between the two products. They will also talk about how retailers can use this knowledge to communicate with consumers. 

“Differentiating Natural Diamonds and Gems from Lab-Grown with Confidence” will take place on November 19, 2024, at 10 a.m. EST.  

The conversation will also touch on the story of how diamonds are formed, different types of synthetic diamonds, and how to distinguish between natural and lab-grown colored gemstones. 

This live session on LinkedIn will begin with a presentation on the topic by Dr. D’Haenens-Johansson. Audience members will be able to submit questions for her to answer on the spot.
