April 18, 2023  |  Anthony DeMarco

An 8.56-carat diamond mounted on a platinum ring is the top lot at Heritage Auctions’ upcoming Spring Fine Jewelry Signature sale.

The cushion-shaped, H-color, VVS1-clarity gem carries an estimate of $225,000 to $250,000. The May 8 sale of approximately 364 lots will feature a variety of important colored gemstones, both loose and mounted, along with diamond jewels, the Dallas, Texas-based company said last week.

Several of the unmounted gems are from single-owner collections, including the Edgehill Collection and Property from the Estate of a Colorado Collector. The auction will also include signed jewels from Parisian jeweler Alexandre Reza, Boston goldsmith F.G. Hale and New York jewelry designer Marianne Ostier.

As a bonus, a gold watch once owned by the famous flamboyant pianist Władziu Valentino Liberace is being offered in the sale.

The event is open for online bidding.
