De Beers’ Element Six Promotes Sales Head to CEO

Element Six, De Beers’ synthetic-diamond unit, has elevated Siobhán Duffy to CEO following the resignation of Walter Huehn.

Duffy will take over on February 1, stepping up from her current position as Element Six’s executive director for sales and marketing, De Beers said Wednesday. She will also join De Beers’ executive committee.

In more than three decades at Element Six, Duffy also headed the company’s oil-and-gas business unit and was executive director of its innovation function.

“Siobhán is the ideal candidate to take Element Six from strength to strength,” said De Beers CEO Bruce Cleaver. “She has outstanding experience across the Element Six product portfolio and across the range of disciplines within the business.”

Element Six develops and creates synthetic diamond and tungsten carbide super-materials for a range of industrial applications. It also makes lab-grown diamonds for Lightbox, De Beers’ fashion-jewelry brand.
