RAPAPORT… Alrosa has expanded its roster of long-term
clients receiving rough diamonds in its Alrosa Alliance program.
The company will publish the new client list for the 2018 to 2020 contract period later this month, it said. Clients must comply with Alrosa’s
responsible business practices, show a certain level of rough-diamond demand
even when the market is slow, and demonstrate financial performance that meets
the company’s standards.
Contract clients currently account for 70% of Alrosa’s total
sales volume. In November, the company announced it would be assessing buyers’ rough-diamond needs annually rather than every three years, making it easier to
match supply with demand.
Correction, January 1, 2018: A previous version of this story included a list of Alrosa clients. Those companies were in fact the old list of Alrosa clients for the 2015 to 2017 contract period, and not the new list, as incorrectly stated.
