Some of the top 10 most-valuable jewels at auction this year by Christie’s and Sotheby's image

Christie’s regularly achieves some of the highest prices for jewels at auction. This year it grabbed six spots on the top 10 list, after taking nine of the coveted positions in 2024. Sotheby’s and Poly Auction also made a showing on the list.

Spanning Hong Kong, Geneva, New York, and Abu Dhabi, these jewels fetched some of the highest prices ever seen at auction.

The top 10 most expensive jewels at auction this year:

A private collector snapped up the unmounted Mediterranean Blue, a cushion modified brilliant-cut, 10.03-carat, fancy-vivid-blue, VS2-clarity diamond, at the May 13 Sotheby’s High Jewelry sale in Geneva.

A sapphire and diamond necklace sports 16 antique cushion-shaped Kashmir sapphires weighing 3.43 to 13.37 carats, each framed with variously cut, D- to F-color diamonds of internally flawless to VS1 clarity, totaling 121.81 carats. The necklace took center stage at Christie’s Hong Kong’s November 25 Magnificent Jewels auction.

A JAR ring with a pink diamond nabbed the highest price at Magnificent Jewels on June 17 at Christie’s in New York. The piece bears a kite-shaped, 10.38-carat, fancy-purple-pink stone, which is thought to have belonged to Marie Antoinette.

Called the Regent Kashmir, the ring contains an antique cushion-shaped, 35.09-carat Kashmir sapphire, while the band sports round diamonds. It featured at the Christie’s Magnificent Jewels auction in Hong Kong on May 27.

Sotheby’s sold the Desert Rose — an unmounted pear-shaped, 31.68-carat, fancy-vivid-orangy-pink, VVS1-clarity diamond — in Abu Dhabi at its December 5 sale, titled Precision & Brilliance: Prestigious Jewels & Watches from an Important Private Collection.
