A sapphire and diamond ring was the top seller at the most recent Christie’s auction in Hong Kong, where it fetched HKD 74.7 million ($9.5 million).
Called the Regent Kashmir, the ring contains an antique cushion-shaped, 35.09-carat Kashmir sapphire, while the band is set with round diamonds. The final selling price fell within the piece’s price range, according to Christie’s. It had an upper estimate of HKD 95 million ($12.1 million).
In total, the May 27 Magnificent Jewels auction garnered HKD 376.2 million ($48 million), with many lots selling above their estimates. Pieces by important designers, including Cartier, Tiffany & Co., and Bulgari, also performed well.
