RAPAPORT… We’re creeping up on the holiday season and with it a certain kind of magic happens. The lights are bright, the decorations are glittering and emotions surface. There are those who run around happy and excited, those who trudge about missing the spirit altogether in a “bah, humbug” state of mind and then there are those who feel the romance of the season. Despite the hectic holiday pace, it is a sentimental time of friends and family and that warm fuzzy feeling makes December the number one month for getting engaged. According to About.com, Christmas and New Year’s are the two most popular days of the year for getting engaged. The site notes that thoughts of family, tradition and new beginnings are factors in this upsurge of engagements. About.com also points out that a “sparkly ring makes a great Christmas present!” While June and August remain the most popular months for weddings, the National Association of Wedding Ministers statistics indicate that 11 percent of all winter weddings are Christmas nuptials. Their statistics also show that the average engagement ring costs $2,000, and that platinum has become the metal of choice. The Association of Bridal Consultants reports that rings account for about 11.5 percent of the total wedding cost. So when prepping for Holiday, make sure there is a special place for the magic of Christmas engagements and winter brides.
