It Starts With the Ring

The excitement of getting married really starts with the engagement and, of course, the ring that one expects to wear forever. In today’s world, couples have more choices than ever before and can choose a ring that is truly reflective of their own unique love story. Even so, there are still a few trends in engagement rings that are leading the way.
   “The halo has been popular for a long time and it doesn’t seem like it’s going away,” says Sylvie Levine, CEO and designer for the Dallas, Texas–based Sylvie Collection. “Brides like the bigger look it gives to the center stone. If they don’t have the budget for a larger center stone, the halo makes the center look 20 percent to 50 percent bigger.” Levine also notes that you can put a cushion shape halo surround on a round stone and it will give the illusion that the center stone is a different shape.
