In the three years since Rapaport Magazine detailed the record-setting prices achieved for gems and jewels at auction in the February 2012 issue, those records have been repeatedly surpassed, sometimes at stunningly high prices. The competition for fine diamonds, colored gemstones and important jewelry has increased as more and more millionaires — and billionaires — have entered the market. When scarcity and desire come together, it is a sure thing that prices will go up. Here are the new records, as of December 2014.
