A fancy-vivid-purplish-pink diamond ring will be the centerpiece of the upcoming Hong Kong jewelry sale at Christie’s, where it is expected to fetch as much as HKD 50 million ($6.4 million).
The ring contains a cut-cornered rectangular mixed-cut, 2.68-carat, internally flawless diamond center stone surrounded by kite-shaped and round diamonds, Christie’s said Monday. It will be among a number of specially curated items featured at the May 27 Magnificent Jewels sale.
The auction will round off Hong Kong Luxury Week, following sales of wine, handbags and accessories and watches. It also marks a big change for jewelry sales at Christie’s, the company explained. Not only will it be the last auction at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre before a move to the Henderson building in September, but it marks a shift in the scheduling of the company’s Magnificent Jewels sales, from two main seasons per year — in spring and fall — to a year-round calendar.
Here are the other pieces that comprise the top 10:
This Cartier India Tutti Frutti multi-gem necklace is set with carved rubies, emeralds, sapphires and round, D- to E-color diamonds of VVS2 to VS1 clarity. It is estimated to fetch HKD 28 million to HKD 38 million ($3.6 million to $4.9 million).
A ring bearing a cushion modified brilliant-cut, 3.33-carat, fancy-deep-blue, internally flawless, type IIb diamond center stone flanked by two pear brilliant-cut diamonds, one a fancy-intense-purple-pink weighing 0.18 carats and the other a fancy-intense-purplish-pink of 0.17 carats, will also go on the block. The jewel carries a presale high estimate of HKD 25 million ($3.2 million).
This necklace comprises a pear brilliant-cut, 20.70-carat, D-flawless diamond; a pear brilliant-cut, 10.02-carat, D-color, internally flawless diamond; and five fancy-deep-pink to fancy-deep-purplish-pink diamonds ranging from 0.24 to 0.73 carats. It has an upper price tag of HKD 25 million ($3.2 million).
Christie’s will offer this ring featuring an oval modified mixed-cut, 8.01-carat, pigeon’s blood Burmese ruby surrounded by round and marquise-cut diamonds for up to HKD 25 million ($3.2 million).
A necklace with 68 jadeite beads that reach around to a sugarloaf Burmese ruby weighing 4.53 carats, surrounded by pear-shaped diamonds, is expected garner up to HKD 18 million ($2.3 million).
A necklace containing a jadeite cabochon and round, pear and marquise-cut diamonds will also go up for auction. The piece is estimated to bring in up to HKD 18 million ($2.3 million).
A cut-cornered square step-cut, 29.49-carat, fancy-vivid-yellow, VVS1-clarity diamond ring carries a high presale price of HKD 18 million ($2.3 million).
A pair of Harry Winston earrings with pear brilliant-cut, D-flawless, type IIa diamonds weighing 10.47 and 10.40 carats is expected to go for up to HKD 18 million ($2.3 million).
This octagonal step-cut, 20.69-carat, Colombian emerald and diamond ring by Gimel has an upper price tag of HKD 18 million ($2.3 million).
