A yellow-diamond necklace weighing 74.48 carats will be the star of the upcoming Hong Kong auction at Sotheby’s, with a high estimate of up to HKD 40 million ($5.1 million).
The cushion modified brilliant-cut, fancy-vivid-yellow, internally flawless diamond is suspended from a ribbon of single-cut diamonds. It will head up the October 6 Magnificent Jewels sale, Sotheby’s said Tuesday.
The auction will also include a number of jewels featuring jadeite and diamonds.

This jadeite and diamond parure from a private collection features a necklace with 12 oval jadeite cabochons and oval diamonds, and a pair of earrings and a ring, each set with an oval jadeite cabochon and diamonds. It has an upper price tag of HKD 38 million ($4.9 million).
A Harry Winston ring with an octagonal step-cut, 18.18-carat Kashmir sapphire, flanked by bullet-cut diamonds, bears a high estimate of HKD 30 million ($3.8 million).
Sotheby’s has estimated this necklace — cast with 29 jadeite beads and an oval, tapered baguette and brilliant-cut diamond-set clasp — could bring in up to HKD 28 million ($3.6 million).
This ring, known as the Crown Jewel of Kashmir, features an octagonal step-cut, 12-carat Kashmir sapphire flanked by diamonds. It has an upper price of HKD 20 million ($2.6 million).
A pair of earrings by Bulgari containing pear- and marquise-shaped diamonds framing two larger rubies weighing 6.05 and 5.03 carats and two smaller rubies weighing 2.14 and 2.10 carats has a high estimate of HKD 20 million ($2.6 million).
This necklace, composed of 43 intense-emerald-green jadeite beads with a diamond and ruby clasp, carries an upper estimate in excess of $2.5 million.
Another necklace, this one containing a jadeite plaque hanging from a baguette diamond clip embellished with brilliant-cut diamonds, is also expected to fetch more than $2.5 million.
This pair of earrings, each set with an oval jadeite cabochon, one weighing 33.79 carats and the other 33.88 carats, is estimated to bring in over $2.5 million.
A Tutti Frutti bracelet by Cartier set with sapphires, rubies, emeralds and diamonds is expected to go for more than $2 million at the sale.
