The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) has teamed up with the Natural Diamond Council (NDC) to support the marketing organization’s outreach to consumers.
The WFDB will provide financial and organizational support, it said in a statement Thursday. It will also lobby the bourses in its organization and individual members to help the NDC tell positive stories about natural diamonds and the people who work in the industry.
The WFDB values the part the NDC plays in representing the natural-diamond trade, stressed its president, Yoram Dvash.
“Today’s consumers have more choices than ever before and are heavily influenced by social media and digital platforms,” he said. “It is crucial to present the natural-diamond industry in a creative and authentic way. We believe that the NDC is successfully doing just that, and we want to support this very important work.”
The NDC believes there are many ways it can collaborate with the WFDB, said CEO David Kellie. “Collectively, we see considerable growth opportunities ahead, and we will redouble efforts to inspire and move consumers,” he noted.
The move comes after the Antwerpsche Diamantkring, Antwerp’s rough-diamond exchange, announced on May 1 it was partnering with the NDC in a similar manner.
