Spotlight on Sustainability: Where Jewelry and Ethics Interact

Rapaport has published a new supplement on sustainability, highlighting key environmental and ethical issues in the jewelry industry.

Among other things, the special report — sponsored by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) — gives definitions for terms like “sustainability,” “conflict-free” and “recycled,” and discusses the trade’s latest attempts to create universal standards for companies’ ethical practices. It also offers jewelers advice on how to talk to customers about responsible sourcing.

Titled “Spotlight on Sustainability,” the supplement was the subject of a Rapaport Diamond Podcast episode earlier this month.
