Michael Lerche will stand as a candidate for vice president of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC).

Lerche has over four decades of industry leadership experience, including as CEO of Goldstar Jewellery and as past president of The Plumb Club, the organization said Tuesday. His current position as pavilion chairman at the club as well as being a board member of the RJC make him a worthy candidate, it added.

“Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of helping to spur the growth and organization of the RJC, an organization that positively impacts the jewelry industry overall by instilling trust, transparency and sustainability, benefiting consumers, communities and the environment,” said Lerche. “In order to strengthen the organization and continue to drive the positive trajectory the RJC has been on for the past few years, I would like to join the executive board as vice chair.”

He will be running against current vice chairman Edward Asscher, who has held the role for several years, and is looking to serve another term.
