John Hardy has appointed Aida Alvarez as senior vice president of revenue for the Americas, the latest in a string of hires aimed at supporting the jewelry brand’s “ambitious plans” for growth.

In her new role, Alvarez will be responsible for building the company’s wholesale business and improving its retail endeavors, the company said last week.  She has been in the industry for more than 25 years, having previously worked in an executive capacity at several multi-store and independent jewelers, including Birks & Mayor’s, CD Peacock and Roberto Coin.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Aida to the John Hardy executive team and partner with her to propel our growth across the retail and wholesale channels,” said CEO Jan-Patrick Schmitz, to whom Alvarez will report. “She is a true leader in the luxury-jewelry space, having driven top-line sales and profitability for renowned brands.”

Alvarez joins Schmitz, who was hired in August, and creative chairman Reed Krakoff, the former Tiffany & Co. creative director who came on board late last year. The new additions are part of a plan to take John Hardy to “a new level,” the company said.

“Over the past year, the John Hardy brand has transformed across all touch points, and Aida will play a key role in continuing to drive this exciting momentum forward,” Schmitz added.

John Hardy specializes in artisan jewelry created through traditional craftsmanship in Bali, Indonesia, where the company is headquartered.
