Former Tiffany & Co. design executive Reed Krakoff has joined jewelry brand John Hardy as its creative chairman.

Krakoff has also been appointed strategic adviser to L Catterton, a private-equity firm that owns a majority stake in the boutique jeweler.

Canadian artist John Hardy founded the business in 1975, inspired by the jewelry traditions of Bali. It employs more than 500 craftspeople on the Indonesian island and operates stores in New York, Bali and other locations.

Krakoff was chief artistic officer at Tiffany from 2017 to 2021. Before that, he was president and executive creative director at fashion brand Coach. In the newly created role at John Hardy, he will oversee the company’s creative and artistic direction. He will also become a minority stakeholder.

“Throughout his storied career, Reed has shown an unmatched understanding of the luxury market and a remarkable ability to take iconic global brands to new levels of success,” said J. Michael Chu, global co-CEO of L Catterton and chairman of John Hardy’s board of directors.
