A pink diamond ring expected to fetch up to $5 million will be among the highlights at next month’s New York jewelry sale at Christie’s.
The 3.18-carat, fancy-vivid-pink diamond ring is one of a number of high-value colored diamonds on offer at the Magnificent Jewels sale on June 11, Christie’s said Wednesday. Others include a ring bearing a heart modified brilliant-cut, 2.28-carat, fancy-vivid-blue diamond, surrounded by yellow diamonds. That item carries a presale high estimate of $2.6 million.
Meanwhile, a group of three antique-cut yellow diamonds will go up for sale. The first is an old European brilliant-cut, 40.56-carat, fancy-intense yellow, while the second is an old-mine brilliant-cut, 40.38-carat, fancy yellow. Rounding out the set is an old-mine brilliant-cut, 26.63-carat, fancy-yellow diamond. Together, the three have an upper price tag of $2.6 million.
A pair of pendant earrings with oval brilliant-cut diamonds weighing 23.20 and 23.05 carats will also appear at the sale. Those have a high estimate of $1.5 million.
Along with jewels from well-known design houses such as Bulgari, Cartier, Tiffany & Co., and Van Cleef & Arpels, the Magnificent Jewels sale will showcase several “significant” collections. These include the jewels of Sunny Crawford von Bülow, daughter of utilities magnate George Crawford and former wife of Prince Alfred von Auersperg. Christie’s will sell a selection of pieces from Jeannette Edris Rockefeller, wife of Arkansas governor Winthrop Rockefeller and daughter-in-law of John D. Rockefeller, and jewelry that belonged to Lucy Jewett, the longest-serving trustee in the history of the San Fransisco Ballet.
Those pieces will join the Eden Rose, a round brilliant-cut, 10.20-carat, fancy-intense-pink, internally flawless diamond set to headline the event. Christie’s expects that jewel to bring in up to $12 million.
