Christie’s will showcase two special necklaces at its upcoming Geneva jewelry sale, including one that featured in a 1974 movie.

A Cartier Art Deco necklace designed circa 1925, bearing an 86.71-carat emerald, pearls, emerald beads and diamonds, will be showcased at the May 13 Magnificent Jewels auction, Christie’s said last week. The auction house predicts the jewel will fetch between CHF 240,000 to CHF 400,000 ($310,000 to $510,000).

One of the jewelry house’s most important customers commissioned the piece in 1925, the year F. Scott Fitzgerald published his third novel, The Great Gatsby. Nearly 50 years later, in 1974, actress Lois Chiles wore the Cartier necklace in the film adaptation of the book.

Christie’s also highlighted a Boucheron necklace from around 1925, which has an upper estimate of CHF 400,000 ($510,000). The piece comprises rubies, emeralds, onyx and diamonds, and can also detach to be worn as a choker and two bracelets. The rose motif was a prominent decorative theme in early 20th-century Paris.

The auction house also revealed it would offer three additional Art Deco pieces. A Cartier diamond tiara with a high presale price of CHF 480,000 ($612,000) will appear at the sale, as will a necklace from the same jewelry house sporting garnet and diamonds with an upper estimate of CHF 240,000 ($306,000). The third jewel, a Van Cleef & Arpels Fuchsia clip brooch bearing sapphire and diamonds, could realize up to CHF 150,000 ($191,250).
