An upcoming live jewelry auction at Bonhams Hong Kong will showcase an important single-owner collection of Cartier pieces alongside some impressive stones.
Leading the May 26 sale will be a rectangular-shaped, 25.88-carat, fancy-vivid-yellow, VVS1-clarity diamond ring with tapered baguette-cut diamond shoulders. The piece carries an estimate of HKD 10.5 million to HKD 18 million ($1.3 million to $2.3 million).
The 160-lot Hong Kong Jewels sale will also encompass rubies, emeralds and fancy gemstones. Among the standouts are an exceptional aquamarine by contemporary fine jeweler Kat Florence and a selection of natural pearls, Bonhams said last week.
Notable lots from the single-owner Cartier collection include a custom-made, one-of-a-kind Cartier diamond Love bracelet, fashioned as a pavé-set, white-diamond, tapered cuff bracelet with three half-moon onyx clasps modeled as screws. The design, circa 2010, features 1,509 round-cut diamonds weighing a total of 46.62 carats. It is offered with an estimate of HKD 450,000 to HKD 850,000 ($57,537 to $108,680).
“It is exciting to present the remarkable jewel at auction, giving the opportunity for collectors around the world to own such a coveted piece,” said Stewart Young, head of jewelry for Bonhams Asia.
Another Cartier design is a diamond Panthère bracelet from 2010, featuring a “fur” setting, a technique by which artisans create animal spots with onyx surrounded by diamonds. Bonhams predicts it will sell for HKD 280,000 to HKD 480,000 ($35,800 to $61,372)
A pair of diamond and colored-diamond Dragon earrings, dated around 2011, are expected to fetch up to HKD 280,000 ($35,800). The set features Chinese dragons set with round brilliant-cut diamonds and eyes accented by a diamond of yellow tint.
Meanwhile, a pair of Cartier diamond Panthère earrings, circa 2010, with onyx and diamond-set panther heads, has a price range of HKD 180,000 to HKD 280,000 ($23,014 to $35,800).
