Christie’s to Sell 24ct. Heart Diamond Online

August 8, 2021  |  Rapaport News

RAPAPORT… Christie’s will offer a 24.45-carat diamond at its upcoming online sale, estimating it will fetch up to $2.55 million — the most for any jewel at a digital auction by the company.

A necklace featuring the heart-shaped, D-color, internally flawless, type IIa diamond will lead the sale, which is named Jewels Online: Summer Sparkle and will run from August 4 to 18, Christie’s said last week.

The auction house’s previous online jewelry record was for a ring containing an emerald-cut, 28.86-carat, VVS1-clarity, type IIa diamond ring. That piece sold for $2.1 million in July, 2020, above its high estimate of $2 million.

Another top item is The Summer Sunrise, a round-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut, 9.83-carat fancy-vivid-orange-yellow, VS1-clarity diamond ring. That jewel is valued at $600,000 to $800,000.

Christie’s will also sell a number of items with no reserve price. Those include an oval brilliant-cut, 6.29-carat, D-color, internally flawless diamond ring with a $350,000 upper estimate, and an emerald-cut, 10.08-carat, H-color, VS1-clarity diamond ring with a high valuation of $300,000.

Meanwhile, a set of earrings featuring two pear brilliant-cut diamonds weighing 5.05 and 5.01 carats will be up for grabs. Those have a high price tag of $300,000, and will also be offered without reserve, Christie’s noted.
