Video Podcast: Stuller’s New Leaders

Stuller CEO Danny Clark and president Belit Myers reflect on the company’s recent management change on the latest video episode of the Rapaport Diamond Podcast.

Clark succeeded founder Matt Stuller as CEO on January 1, with Myers promoted from chief operating officer to president. Stuller himself stepped aside to become executive chairman of the board.

Speaking with Rapaport’s Joshua Freedman, Clark and Myers explained the company’s business model, which focuses on “just-in-time” inventory. They addressed the growing importance of providing service to customers and not just product, and what this means for small suppliers that lack scale.

They spoke about why the company offers both natural and synthetic diamonds. The availability of both products has expanded the overall category and will continue benefiting the market, Clark argued. “This is making the pie bigger for diamonds,” he said.

Based in Lafayette, Louisiana, Stuller supplies loose stones and jewelry to American retailers, most of which are active in both natural and lab-grown, Clark noted.

Clark and Myers took part in the recording on February 17; some of the news they mentioned has developed since then.
