Podcast: The Visionary and Timeless Harry Winston Style

Harry Winston, one of the most legendary figures of the diamond industry in the 20^th century, is the topic of the latest episode of the Rapaport Diamond Podcast. Curatorial adviser to high-jewelry houses and private collectors Sharon Novak discussed the King of Diamonds’ groundbreaking techniques and bold approach to stone-cutting, as well as some of the famous figures who have bought his pieces.

Novak spoke with Rapaport’s Sonia Esther Soltani about what made Winston such a visionary: his eye for getting the most exceptional polished stones from rough and his relentless dedication to acquiring extraordinary gems. The self-made man was a marketing genius who used the power of celebrities and movies to promote his jewelry on and off screen, she pointed out.  

The New York-based luxury consultant, who shares erudite content about historical jewels, famous collectors and leading maisons on her Instagram account, @jewelryathenaeum, also offered valuable guidance on looking at Winston pieces on the secondary market. Novak explained the major role of designer A.V. Shinde in some of the brand’s most covetable creations and dispelled misconceptions about attribution.
