Yellow Diamonds Lead $5.8M Heritage Auction

A yellow-diamond ring stole the show at a recent jewelry sale at Heritage Auctions in Dallas, Texas, where it fetched $337,500.  

The ring, which features a pear-shaped, 14.14-carat, fancy-intense-yellow, VS1-clarity diamond flanked by two trillion-cut stones weighing a total of 2.10 carats, was the star of the May 5 Spring Fine Jewelry Signature Auction, Heritage said Wednesday. Its final sale price fell within its presale estimated range.

In total, the auction garnered $5.8 million. It included pieces from well-known designers such as Van Cleef & Arpels, David Webb, and Boucheron.

This cut-cornered square modified brilliant-cut, 11.67-carat, fancy-intense-yellow, VVS2-clarity diamond ring, between by calf’s head-cut diamonds weighing a total of 2 carats, just missed its low estimate of $200,000 to realize $193,750.  
Heritage sold this marquise-shaped, 7.50-carat, H-color, VVS2-clarity diamond ring also featuring two pear-shaped, 1.04- and 1.05-carat, E-color, S12-clarity diamonds. It fetched $187,500, surpassing its $120,000 high estimate. 
This ring, which bears an oval-shaped, 10.16-carat, H-color, SI1-clarity diamond with half-moon-shaped side stones, exceeded its $100,000 price tag to achieve $175,000.

An oval-shaped, 14.56-carat Burma sapphire with 14-karat gold accents went under the hammer for $150,000, more than doubling its $65,000 high estimate.
