Sotheby’s sold a Van Cleef & Arpels diamond ring at its recent auction in Paris, where it garnered EUR 409,600 ($458,858).
The jewel features a rectangular step-cut, 16.01-carat, J-color, VS2-clarity diamond. The ring narrowly beat its EUR 400,000 ($448,186) high estimate and led the October 8 Fine Jewelry sale, according to the Sotheby’s website.
The auction house raked in EUR 5.9 million ($6.6 million), selling lots from well-known designers such as Cartier, Boucheron and Buccellati.

A Cartier ring bearing a radiant-cut, 8.67-carat, fancy-intense-yellow, VVS1 diamond between two triangular stones.

This Van Cleef & Arpels ring features a marquise-cut, 5.54-carat, D, VVS1 diamond, with baguette-cut diamond shoulders.
Estimate: EUR 80,000 to EUR 140,000 ($89,637 to $156,865)
An M. Gérard necklace comprises 18 oval Burmese rubies, each framed by eight brilliant-cut diamonds, with the clusters spaced by pairs of brilliant-cut stones. The diamonds total around 36 carats.
Estimate: EUR 100,000 to EUR 180,000 ($112,046 to $201,683)
