A Van Cleef & Arpels Zip necklace took center stage at the Phillips jewelry auction in Geneva, where it brought in CHF 619,200 ($793,303).
The piece features a tassel composed of coral and chrysoprase beads capped with carved chrysoprase and carré-cut diamonds. The zipper is made of gold decorated with carved chrysoprase, coral cabochons, and square- and brilliant-cut diamond motifs, alternating with pear-shaped diamonds and similarly shaped diamond and coral-bead accents. It surpassed its CHF 480,000 ($614,912) high estimate at the May 11 Geneva Jewels Auction: VI, according to the Phillips website.
In total, the sale garnered CHF 5.5 million ($7 million). The auction featured nearly 100 jewels, including lots from famous designers such as Bulgari, Chaumet and Cartier.

A pair of Van Cleef & Arpels earrings, each sporting a detachable drop-shaped pendant with calibré-cut rubies. These suspend from a floral design featuring pear- and marquise-shaped and brilliant-cut diamonds and accented with a circular-cut ruby.
