Three emerald pieces that Phillips expected to fetch a total of CHF 88,000 ($110,787) at its recent jewelry sale in Geneva went unsold after failing to meet their reserve prices.
A pendant sporting an oval, 26.95-carat emerald framed with brilliant-cut and marquise-shaped diamonds carried an upper estimate of CHF 32,000 ($40,251). It was originally expected to lead the November 13 Geneva Jewels: Online Auction, according to Phillips. The auction house also did not manage to sell a ring with an octagonal step-cut, 1.56-carat Colombian emerald in a surround of marquise-shaped diamonds. That lot had a high price of CHF 30,000 ($37,747).
Meanwhile, a pair of earrings with pear-shaped emeralds weighing 5.11 and 5.17 carats and pear-shaped, brilliant-cut, and tapered baguette diamond accents also didn’t find a buyer, having carried a high estimate of CHF 26,000 (32,734).
Numerous pieces from famous designers, including Cartier, Boucheron and Chaumet, went under the hammer. In total, the sale garnered CHF 979,691 ($1.2 million).
