Emerald and diamond ring at Phillips image

The 3.03-carat pink diamond ring that was expected to lead the recent Phillips New York jewelry sale failed to find a buyer.

The ring, which features a radiant-cut, fancy-intense-pink diamond was billed to fetch up to $1.6 million at the June 12 New York Jewels sale. The event garnered $2.8 million, with 88% of lots sold, Phillips said Monday.

“We are thrilled to close the season on a high note,” said Cristina Rodrigo, head of sale at Phillips. “Colored gemstones were a particular highlight, achieving a 90% sell-through rate and totaling $1.7 million. Emeralds led the category, closely followed by sapphires.”
