Tiffany Reopens Revamped New York Flagship

April 23, 2023  |  Leah Meirovich

Tiffany & Co. will reveal its newly refurbished New York flagship store this month after a four-year shutdown.

This is the first time the building, now known as the Landmark, has been through a complete update since it first opened in 1940, Tiffany said last week. The new design combines traditional features with new innovations, the jeweler explained.

“Symbolic of our new era for Tiffany & Co., the Landmark is much more than a jewelry store — it is a cultural hub with an exquisite showcase of architecture and superior hospitality, as well as cutting-edge design,” said Tiffany CEO Anthony Ledru. “It sets a new bar for luxury retail on a global scale.”

The revamp includes the addition of new artworks, some commissioned by Tiffany, video walls that project views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline, and a spiral staircase decorated with rock crystal, inspired by one of the company’s most iconic designers, Elsa Peretti. The Blue Box Café now features a private dining area and bar, with art installations. Meanwhile, floors eight and nine contain dedicated museum and exhibition space that will offer a rotation of concepts and storytelling experiences.

To mark the store’s reopening, Tiffany will debut a range of exclusive designs and one-of-a-kind pieces, it noted. Those include diamond watches, limited-edition home objects, and eyewear inspired by the Tiffany Setting engagement ring.

Tiffany began the renovation of the 10-story location on 57th Street and Fifth Avenue in February 2019, intending to debut it at the end of 2021. However, due to a halt in construction activity caused by Covid-19, the project was delayed. In the meantime, the company operated the store from a four-story space on East 57th Street adjacent to its Fifth Avenue location, naming it the “Tiffany Flagship Next Door.”
