Trans Atlantic Gem Sales (TAGS) sold 1,721 carats of rough diamonds for $27.1 million at its recent tender.

The sale, which took place from September 30 to October 8 in Luanda, Angola, included numerous special-sized and fancy-colored stones, TAGS said Wednesday. The auction attracted 39 leading specialist manufacturers from around the world, with 94% of lots finding buyers.

“These results reflect the continued strength of our partnership with Sodiam and our shared commitment to promoting Angola’s diamond industry through a transparent, competitive and internationally accessible tender process,” the company said.

The auction included 53 lots sourced from 12 mines, representing one of the most impressive ranges and volumes of goods offered at the sale, TAGS added.

The company expects the sale’s success to strengthen Angola’s position in the global rough-diamond market further, it said.
