Two unmounted D-flawless diamonds, each weighing 18.38 carats, will be the highlight of an upcoming online auction at Sotheby’s, where they are set to fetch up to HKD 40.5 million ($5.2 million).
The round brilliant, type IIa stones will feature in Sotheby’s Sealed, an online platform that allows participants to bid on high-value merchandise while being able to view only their own submitted amount. The diamond duo will be on offer from September 19 to 27, according to the Sotheby’s website.
The auction house will also present three jewels in a separate Sotheby’s Sealed sale between September 30 and October 8. The auction, called The Gem Drop, features three pieces: a white diamond, a colored diamond, and a colored gemstone.
The first piece in the sale is a ring set with a cut-cornered rectangular mixed-cut, 10.18-carat, fancy-intense-yellow, SI2-clarity diamond center stone, flanked by a pair of trapezoid diamonds, estimated at up to $200,000. Meanwhile, a ring with a round-brilliant, 4.51-carat, D-flawless diamond is expected to bring in up to $150,000, and a third ring, featuring an emerald-cut, 2.31-carat Colombian emerald with trapezoid-shaped diamond accents has a high price of $35,000.
