A pair of Cartier pink and white diamond earrings was the top seller at a recent jewelry sale at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong, fetching HKD 22.3 million ($2.9 million).
The set contains two pear-shaped diamonds, one a 6.32-carat, fancy-intense-pink, SI2-clarity, and the other a 6.03-carat, D-color, internally flawless, suspended from pink and white diamonds. The earrings, which missed their low estimate, were among the 111 lots that sold at the April 25 Hong Kong High Jewelry sale, according to the auction house’s website.
In total, the auction brought in HKD 148.2 million ($19.1 million). Sotheby’s also offered a range of jewels from well-known design houses, including Cartier, Graff, and Van Cleef & Arpels.

Set with a cut-cornered rectangular brilliant-cut, 61.47-carat, fancy-greenish-yellow, VS2-clarity diamond, this ring sold for HKD 10.9 million ($1.4 million) within its estimates. This ring features a step-cut, 45.15-carat, fancy-intense-yellow, VS1 clarity diamond. It went under the hammer for HKD 8.6 million ($1.1 million), toward the lower end of its price range. The auction house sold this ring featuring a cushion-shaped, 11.56-carat Kashmir sapphire between two old European-cut diamonds. It brought in HKD 6.4 million ($818,495), in line with expectations. A ring set with an emerald-cut, 10.01-carat, D-color, internally flawless, type IIa diamond, its band decorated with brilliant-cut diamonds, exceeded its HKD 4.3 million ($554,257) price tag to achieve HKD 5.7 million ($736,646). This pair of earrings, with cushion-shaped, 5.46- and 4.57-carat Kashmir sapphires within an old European-cut diamond surround, made HKD 5.5 million ($703,906), in the middle of its presale estimate. A Tiffany & Co. ring featuring a brilliant-cut, 8.41-carat, D-color, internally flawless, type IIa diamond, with a diamond band, sold within its presale estimate for HKD 4.3 million ($548,378). This ring bears a cushion-shaped, 15.03-carat, fancy-vivid-yellow, internally flawless diamond, flanked by two triangular diamonds weighing 1.03 carats each. It fetched HKD 4.1 million ($523,823) within its price range. A Graff necklace designed as a graduated cluster sports 30 cut-cornered rectangular, fancy-intense-yellow diamonds weighing a total of 38.45 carats, as well as six cut-cornered rectangular and square diamonds with a yellow tint. The piece, which also contains pear-shaped white diamonds, garnered HKD 3.8 million ($491,107), just above its lower estimate. A JAR ring with a cushion-shaped, 17.70-carat, fancy-brown-orange, I2-clarity diamond, decorated with brilliant-cut diamonds, realized HKD 3.3 million ($425,626), above its HKD 2.7 million ($348,018) upper estimate.
