Sotheby’s Fine Jewelry Auction Garners over $8M

A yellow-diamond ring took center stage at a recent jewelry sale at Sotheby’s in New York, where it brought in $152,400. 

The ring, which bears a 4.20-carat, fancy-vivid-yellow, VVS2-clarity diamond flanked by two emerald-cut diamonds weighing a total of 2.15 carats, was the star of the June 16 Fine Jewelry auction, Sotheby’s said Monday. The piece sold within its estimated presale range. 

In total, the auction garnered $8.4 million, with 90% of lots finding buyers. It included jewels from famous design houses such as Harry Winston, Graff, and Tiffany & Co.

An Angela Cummings necklace realized $139,700, more than doubling its $60,000 high estimate. The piece sports an oval-cut, 110.60-carat, yellow Ceylon sapphire surrounded by round diamonds, on a necklace of openwork cloud-shaped links set with round yellow sapphires.

This ring bears a cut-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut, 14.32-carat, fancy-yellow, SI2-clarity diamond between a pair of triangle-shaped diamonds. It brought in $127,000, in the middle of its estimates. 
Sotheby’s sold this Hearts on Fire ring for $127,000, beating its $90,000 upper price. It has a round, 8.36-carat, J-color, VS2-clarity diamond.

A round, 13.18-carat, W to X color, VVS2-clarity diamond ring smashed its $85,000 high estimate to achieve $127,000.

This Tiffany & Co. ring features a cushion-cut sugarloaf, 10.07-carat Ceylon sapphire between baguette and bullet-shaped diamonds. It went under the hammer for $101,600, doubling its $50,000 high estimate.
