Sotheby’s has named Stewart Young as senior director and head of the Asia jewelry department at Sotheby’s, succeeding Regine Ngan.

Young will be based in Hong Kong, where he will lead the team across jewelry auctions and private sales, as well as partnering with the Salon team on the retail side of the business, Sotheby’s said Monday.

He recently rejoined Sotheby’s nearly 20 years after he began his auction career there, in 2007. In 2022, Young became director of jewelry and head of Asia for the category at Bonhams. He has also worked for Hong Kong-based auctioneer Tiancheng International as director and head of department for Asia.

Young has designed several jewelry pieces for auction, including a 102-carat, fancy-vivid-yellow diamond necklace, which realized $9 million, the company said.
