Sean Dunn Becomes President of J.R. Dunn Jewelers

Sean Dunn has stepped into the role of president at his family’s Florida retail business, J.R. Dunn Jewelers, succeeding his mother, Ann Marie Dunn.

The move was “just something that made sense so the records clearly show who’s running the day-to-day,” Sean Dunn, previously vice president of the Lighthouse Point-based company, told Rapaport News on Tuesday. “Our accountants and estate planners recommended we update the corporate records to reflect the current reality of the business.”

Ann Marie Dunn became president in 2021 following the death of her husband and cofounder, James (Jim) Dunn. She actively ran the business until 2023, when her son took over in practical terms despite remaining vice president. The two of them will remain co-owners.

“Jim always knew Sean would be the one to carry J.R. Dunn forward, and seeing him step confidently into this role is one of my greatest joys,” Ann Marie Dunn wrote in a letter her son shared on LinkedIn.

J.R. Dunn has just one store in Lighthouse Point, focusing on high-end jewelry and mostly natural diamonds. Sean Dunn recently appeared on the Rapaport Diamond Podcast to discuss traceability and origin programs.
