Phillips will offer a 5.40-carat sapphire ring at its upcoming New York sale, carrying a high estimate of $500,000.
The jewel, which centers a cushion-shaped Kashmir sapphire between two oval diamonds, will lead The New York Jewels Auction on December 8, Phillips said Tuesday.
The auction house will offer more than 100 jewels, several with vibrantly colored gemstones, signed period pieces, and iconic gold creations, as well as lots from famous designers such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Graff, Cartier, and Tiffany & Co.
“This season’s New York sale celebrates the artistry and innovation that defines collectible jewelry to wear,” said Dianne Batista, head of jewels at Phillips. “Building on the excitement of the Geneva Jewels Auction: V, where signed period pieces with historic provenance achieved record results, we are thrilled to present highlights such as Boucheron’s antique diamond bow brooch, Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co.’s sapphire and diamond Fleur de Mer brooch, and Cartier’s Art Deco designs — timeless works that continue to inspire collectors and find new ways to be worn.”
