A ruby ring was the top seller at a recent Christie’s auction in Paris, fetching more than five times its high estimate.
The piece, featuring a cushion-shaped, 3.50-carat, pigeon’s blood Burmese ruby between triangular-shaped diamonds, garnered EUR 327,600 ($341,650). It was among the 283 lots offered at the December 6 to 17 Joaillerie Paris auction, according to Christie’s.
In total, the sale brought in EUR 8.5 million ($8.9 million). Jewels by well-known design houses including JAR, Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, and Boucheron also proved popular.
