Rio Tinto has sold its Argyle Pink Diamonds brand to luxury jewelry designer group Boodles.

The miner will transfer the remaining Argyle pink-diamond inventory to Boodles, Rio Tinto said Thursday. The agreement also includes rights to trademarks associated with the Argyle Pink Diamonds brand, along with its website and digital-marketing assets. Rio Tinto ended production at the Argyle mine on November 3, 2020.

“Our priority has been to ensure that the Argyle Pink Diamonds brand remains with an owner who understands its history and can responsibly steward the brand into the future,” said Patrick Coppens, Rio Tinto Diamonds’ general manager of sales and marketing. “We look forward to Boodles taking stewardship of the brand.”

Boodles officially took ownership of the brand on October 1.
