Phillips sold $7.7 million in jewelry at its latest auction in Hong Kong, with white, pink and yellow diamonds leading the event alongside a raft of colored gemstones.
The total value was 125% higher than during the last auction season in June, said Benoît Repellin, worldwide head of jewelry at Phillips, in a statement Monday. The company sold 87% of available lots, or 92% by value. The Jewels and Jadeite auction took place on Sunday at Hong Kong’s JW Marriott hotel.
“The results prove that the market for colorless and colored diamonds continue[s] to be robust,” Repellin commented, noting that these goods were “particularly sought-after.”
The headline piece was a round brilliant, 26.12-carat, D-flawless, triple-Ex loose diamond, which fetched $2.5 million. Meanwhile, a ring featuring a cushion modified brilliant, 2.04-carat, fancy-intense-pink, VS1-clarity diamond went for $914,816, smashing its estimate of $150,000 to $250,000.
