Phillips has promoted Eva Violante to head its jewelry department in the Americas following the departure of Sara Thomeier.
Thomeier, who joined the company in 2021, left at the end of last year to pursue other opportunities, the auction house said Monday. Violante began working with Phillips in 2018 as senior specialist and vice president of the jewelry division for the region.
Prior to joining Phillips, Violante was the New York director of fine jewelry for Heritage Auctions. In her time at Phillips, she brought in a number of significant jewels, with several coming from important Miami collections and from South America, Phillips noted. One of the most substantial was the personal jewelry collection of revolutionary American architect Florence Knoll Bassett.
