The International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) and the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) will once again partner for the World Diamond Congress (WDC) later this year.
The 41st congress event — in which the organizations meet to discuss industry-related issues — will take place in Singapore from July 12 to 15, the IDMA said Sunday. The Diamond Exchange of Singapore (DES) will host the congress.
The IDMA and WFDB announced they would be working together this year after splitting up their partnership two years ago. At the time, the IDMA did not reveal what was preventing the organizations from holding a joint congress.
However, now IDMA secretary general Matthew Schamroth is collaborating closely with his counterpart, Rony Unterman of WFDB, while communications director Ya’akov Almor is supporting all parties with the extensive and complex preparations.
“In the past, organizing a World Diamond Congress was a relatively straightforward job,” said IDMA president Ronnie VanderLinden. “However, as we all know, our industry is in flux, if not in turmoil. [However], our hosts are working relentlessly to make the congress a success.”
