Birks Group has appointed Davide Barberis Canonico as CEO, following a year in which the company had no official leader.

Barberis Canonico, whose position became effective October 30, has served as interim president and chief operating officer of the Canadian jeweler since August 2025. He has also been a member of the company’s board of directors since 2013, and will continue in that capacity, Birks said last week.

Niccolò Rossi di Montelera, who has been interim CEO since August 2025, when former CEO Jean-Christophe Bédos stepped down following a 13-year run, will stay on as executive chairman of the board. He will provide strategic oversight and leadership in partnership with Barberis Canonico, Birks explained.

“Over the past year, [Barberis Canonico] has demonstrated strong leadership, unwavering commitment, and a deep understanding of our business,” said Rossi de Montelera. ”Under his leadership, the company has strengthened its operational performance and enhanced its relationships with renowned global brand partners. We are confident that he is well-positioned to continue leading the company through its next phase of development.”
