Mmetla Masire is stepping down as managing director of Okavango Diamond Company (ODC), with Lipalesa Makepe succeeding him in an acting capacity, the rough trader reported.

Masire, who will leave on December 1, has led ODC since 2021, the company stated on LinkedIn. He played a key role in executing the company’s turnaround strategy and in the 2022 to 2023 fiscal year oversaw ODC’s highest revenue since its establishment in 2012. Masire upgraded its organizational structure and diversified its sales channels, among other major accomplishments, it added.

“Mr. Masire leaves ODC in a strong position and has expressed full confidence in the team’s ability to sustain the momentum,” the Botswana government-owned company said.

Chief financial officer Makepe will serve as acting managing director, steering the organization through the transition period and ensuring ongoing operational stability.
